Post 380: Preview of Different Kinds of Essays
Next week, my students will explore different kinds of essays. The Week 2 reading gives students a list of different kinds of essays: Narrative, Description and Expository. The Expository essays list includes Example Essay, Process Essay, Cause/Effect essay, Definition Essay, Compare/Contrast Essay, Classification Essay and Argumentative essay. I posted this gif in my Announcements to prepare students for the Week 2 Reading.
Instead of the usual Powerpoint, I decided to use Canvas Presentation mode and then create a Presentation and save it as a gif. It seems to work very well, and is much more interesting than the boring Power Point I usually give students. These slides just show an introduction to the different kinds of essays. I will go into more details of course into the different kinds of essays later on in the class.
Using different kinds of modalities and multimedia for my online class adds variety to the class and keeps students from getting bored.
I highly recommend using Canva because it is free, and it has great modern looking templates! You can so much more than what I did here!
