What does Writing Mean To Me?
I created this video for my Week 1 Writing class starting next week. One of the writing prompts for the students to introduce themselves is to be asked, "What does Writing Mean To Me?"
For me, writing is a personal process. For instance, I love blog writing because I can teach my online audience about my teaching experiences. I am a born teacher and a born writer. When I learn something new, I can't wait to share it with my students or on this blog with my online audience.
Writing helps me express how I feel, helps me express my thoughts and is cathartic and helps me relax because I feel there is an online audience reading this blog and learning from it.
For me, writing soothes me and calms me, and gives me direction. When I journal, my journal is never tired of listening to my thoughts, to my ramblings, to my worries, and to my concerns. My journal is never "too busy" for me. Writing is like a friend who is never tired or too busy to be there for you.
In this video, (I think I sound rather stiff), I tell students what writing means to me. I need to work on my video persona! Anyway, enjoy!
Why do you like to write? What does writing mean to you?
