Post 336: Online Live Meeting Topics for your English Composition Class
Does your online school require you to do Online Live Meetings every week? Are you stuck on what to lecture during those Live Meetings? Are you a busy teacher with no time to come up with topics? Well, I will give you a few suggestions on what topics you can lecture on for your Live Online meetings.
Live Online Meetings helps online teachers build community in their online classes. When students actually see you and hear your voice, they can better bond with you and become the 'community of learners' for the class.
Like most teachers, in the first meeting, you will mainly talk about classroom navigation, class expectations, tests, quizzes and syllabus related topics. Then, the teacher can leave plenty of time for students to ask questions about the class like the class goals, grading, etc...
Here are some topics for subsequent meetings:
What is the difference between fact and fallacy?
What are inferences?
What is Analysis?
How do you do Close Reading?
What is the Writing Process?
What is an argument? What is a counterargument?
What is paragraph structure?
How do you do an outline?
How do you create a thesis statement?
How do you transfer your outline to your rough draft?
What are the benefits of Peer Review?
What are Rhetorical Appeals?
How do I brainstorm to come up with essay topics?
What is the difference between a direct quote and a paraphrase quote?
What are topic sentences?
What is MLA or APA formatting? What is the difference between the two?
How do I create effective introduction and conclusion paragraphs?
How do I avoid sentence fragments? What is sentence structure?
What other topics should I include for my Live Online Meetings in an English Composition class? What ideas do you all have?
