Post 257: External Revision
Most of us associate 'revision' with External Revision. When we were in grade school, it was all about correcting grammar and punctuation errors or learning reading and writing rules. In my previous blog post, I defined 'external revision' as 'proofreading', which you do after you revise for essay structure (internal revision).
You can also have somebody else help you proofread your paper. It is always good to have a fresh pair of eyes since you, the writer may be too familiar with your paper, that you no longer see the errors anymore.
It is also a good idea to take a break from your paper to clear the cobwebs from your head before returning to revise for structure or grammar. I love taking a walk to take a break in the sun to reenergize me for work!
