Post 448: Use of Bitmoji to Welcome New Students During Week 1

Post 448: Use of Bitmoji To Welcome New Students During Week 1

On April 5th, 2021, I start a new 6 week class of ENG 101 with new students. I decided to use my Welcome to the Class Bitmoji to welcome students to the class on my Canvas home page.

Putting a welcoming Bitmoji cartoon helps put new students at ease who may be nervous about taking an English class. Some adult students have not written an essay in decades, so having this Bitmoji could calm their nerves, and help facilitate the bonding between myself and my new students.

Students get to see that I am not just a name on a computer, or just somebody who grades their paper. Instead, with this cartoon, I start to develop my Social Presence, my teaching persona.

I did not create this image. Instead, this image comes with the Bitmoji app once you create your Bitmoji on the Bitmoji app on your phone. Therefore, you do not need any Graphic Design skills to post or make Bitmoji cartoons for your online classroom.
